Clothing Hanger Drive | As You Like It

Get "Hung up on Sacramento!" Big Idea Theatre has partnered with a great community outreach organization, Shoes & Sandwiches, for a clothing hanger drive during the final two weekends of As You Like It performances.  Hangers collected will be used to help facilitate providing clothing and other essential items to Sacramento's homeless.

We ask you to embrace spring cleaning and check those closets for any unused clothing hangers.  Hangers may be dropped off at the Big Idea Theatre lobby in the provided boxes from
7:00 PM - 8:00 PM on the following As You Like It performance dates:

Thursday, 3/21
Friday, 3/22
Saturday, 3/23
Thursday, 3/28
Friday, 3/29
Saturday, 3/30

Shoes and Sandwiches, founded in April 2011, is an organization focused on providing community outreach to those in need in a manner that benefits society as a whole and looks to inspire change at both the community and policy levels.

In April 2012, S&S opened The Firefly Exchange, a vintage boutique in Midtown Sacramento, that features recycled and up-cycled fashion and decor items at low, affordable prices.  S&S uses the profits from the The Firefly Exchange to fund their community outreach.

S&S looks to expand their efforts in 2013 to include other area of community outreach in Sacramento by providing business attire to those in need seeking employment and are soon to launch their initiative "Refresh Dowtown" in an effort to "incorporate vacant, dilapidated buildings into a play for advertising opportunities, street-facing face-lifts, blighted block resurfacing and creating an inviting atmosphere for new businesses to move in and be successful in an environment that is interesting and promotes success."

Looking to donate your time to a wonderful cause and make a difference in your community?  Visit Shoes & Sandwiches' WEBSITE to complete a volunteer form or get information on one of their four donation stations in the Sacramento area - Midtown Sacramento, Granite Bay, Elk Grove and Carmichael.  They will notify you of upcoming events opportunities for you to confirm or decline participation.  Every little bit helps!

Press Pass | As You Like It

With "impeccable comedic timing" and "conscious, bold choices," Big Idea Theatre reaches new artistic heights with its current production of As You Like It by William Shakespeare, adapted by Brian Harrower.

"Big Idea Theatre has had triumphs with its take on Shakespeare in the past, but this adaptation is with a doubt the theater's strongest effort to date and should not be missed."
- Maxwell McKee, SN&R
